      I hate labels, why can’t we just enjoy the music we enjoy without the conviction of others?
      What’s everyone’s problem?! Why can’t some people like MCr, and others like SDRE? Or like them both?

      This was completely true before emo was co-opted into what it’s currently defined as in places like Maxim, and there was no commercial push for anything called ‘emo’. I’m not sure the definition holds today.

      Emo was around way before My Chemical Romance. I have a guitar world article from 1996 talking about the resurgence o emo referring to SDRE and The Get Up Kids (among others) as being part of the history of Emo.
