I grew up in ...
I grew up in Inglewood in the 50's-60's. Used to love going down Hawthorne Blvd, it was a safe, wholesome place. Now it looks like part of Mexico, crap all over, broken down buildings, etc. Celebrate diversity.

I lived in Hawhorne ...
I lived in Hawhorne from 4-18 (1956-1970). It was a fairly safe city back then but we did have a young girl raped and murdered, found in the hedges lining the Truro Avenue side of Eucalyptus Elementary (grades K-3 section). We lived 4 houses down from there. My stepfather chased off a peeping tom we saw (over our brick fence) watching our neighbor shower mid-day. So even then Hawthorne wasn't THAT safe.
